10/11, Home Message

Good afternoon Computech community this is Dr. Scherrer calling with a weekly update about some of the important events and happenings going on around campus.

Parents, our Entertainment Book fundraiser has begun, and since our goal is one book sold per student, the money and order form due date this this Friday, October 16th.   Tomorrow, students will bring home Entertainment’s prize structure for your perusal.  Since we are hoping for high participation, the school is also offering classroom prizes for the two three classes who have the highest number of students selling/participation.  Participation is gauged by one or more book sold.

Parents, as a reminder, quarter 1 came to a close this past Friday. Parents can expect to see quarter one report cards on Wednesday, October 14th. We ask that you review with your child their quarter 1 grades, spend a moment to make and record goals for quarter 2, and then place your signature on the report card and have your child return it to their first period teacher. Once signed copies are returned, 1st period teachers will issue a permanent copy for students to take home and keep.

Our next School Site Council Meeting is scheduled for this coming Wednesday, October 14th at 3:15 P.M. in the Teacher Workroom for all interested.

This Thursday, starting at 3:00pm, Computech is hosting the first Middle School Forensics competition of the year.  Other middle schools will attend the competition, and we are looking for judges for this competition.  If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Hibler at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call 457-2640 and ask for Mrs. Hibler as soon as possible.

Good afternoon Computech community this is Dr. Scherrer calling with a weekly update about some of the important events and happenings going on around campus.

Flyers were sent home this past week with our 8th grade students concerning the Edison High School Magnet Night scheduled for this coming Wednesday, October 7th beginning at Edison High School. All parents of 8th grade Computech students are encouraged and invited to attend.

Since our Entertaiment Books arrived later than expected, We will be beginning our Entertainment book fundraiser school wide this week. All students will be given one to use as a model during their sales, but if they do not sell it, it MUST BE RETURNED or payment will be due for that book.  The book is $25 and can provide thousands of dollars in savings.  Coupons and savings do not expire until December of 2016.  Those who purchased a 2015 book at Back to School Night will be provided their 2016 book for free. Information will be sent home with students, but our goal is that each student sell ONE entertainment book.

Parents, we are approaching the final week of quarter 1. Students now have one week remaining to work hard, turn in all assignments and study to earn the best grades possible. Parents can expect to see quarter one report cards on Wednesday, October 14th.

Finally, I would like to say good luck to all of our quarter one sports teams who, starting this week, head into the playoff season. Good luck and go tigers!

All right Computech community, that is all for this week. Thank you for tuning in every week for updates about our school and thank you for being part of our school where, along with you, we strive for the success of every student, every day.

Good afternoon Computech community this is Dr. Scherrer calling with a weekly update about some of the important events and happenings going on around campus.

Parents, be on the lookout for first quarter progress reports to come home with your child on Wednesday. Progress grades are a great opportunity to check the academic progress of your child half way through the first quarter and first grading period. We ask that you review with your child their progress grades and then place your signature on it and have your child return it to their first period teacher. Once signed copies are returned, 1st period teachers will issue a permanent copy for students to take home and keep.

Speaking of progress reports, just a reminder to check ATLAS and use EduText on a regular basis to stay up to date on your student’s progress.  Edutext Parent PINs are printed on your child’s progress report, and parents can register right from a cell phone. Parents and guardians please look for your EduText Parent PINs this coming week on your child’s progress reports if you aren’t already signed up.

Our school’s first School Site Council meeting will be held this Wendesday at 3:15pm in the Computech Teacher Workroom.  Anyone interested in attending, please feel free to attend.  The agenda is posted on the main page of the website at www.edisoncomputech.com.

Phone Message, August 16th, 2015

Good afternoon Computech community, this is Dr. Scherrer calling with an important beginning of school update for our students and parents. I want to take this opportunity to thank our students and parents who braved the heat and came out to our back to school nights this past week. I know I speak for the entire staff when I say that we enjoyed being with you. I have some important last minute updates and reminders as we launch this new school year.

As a reminder, students are expected to be in Computech standard dress for our first day of the school year. Information regarding our standard of dress can be found on our school website for those that would like to do a last minute review.  Although students picked up a schedule at Back to School Ngith, ALL student must check the cafeteria window tomorrow morning to verify their first period.  Once in first period, ALL students will be issued a new copy of their schedule—in Computech yellow!

I would like to remind parents and students that school will begin at 9:00am on Thursday morning as we follow our late start schedule.

This Friday is picture day at Computech. Picture order forms will be coming home with students early this week. Students will be expected to be in Computech standard dress for pictures. Please contact the school office with any questions you have.

Also, parents as a reminder, our start of the school year packets that were picked up at Back to School Nights are due this week to your child’s first period teacher by this Thursday, August 20th.  Start of the school year packets contain important information that the school needs such as emergency cards and after school program enrollment applications. It is important to note that we need all forms signed and returned to the school. This includes the after school program application, regardless if students are planning on attending the after school program. The Computech Afterschool Program officially begins this Tuesday, August 18th in the Computech library, so the ASES component of the packet is due on Monday to attend Tuesday. It is important to note that the completion of the afterschool program packet DOES NOT obligate students to attend the afterschool program. We appreciate your support by promptly signing and returning those forms to your child’s first period teacher as soon as possible.

I want to make you aware that try-outs for quarter one sports will begin this week. Quarter one sports include, football, water polo, cross country, girls’ volleyball and golf. Students interested in trying out for football, golf, or water polo should see Coach Mar at the boy’s locker room.

Finally, I wanted to draw your attention to the dropoff and pickup map in the Back to School packet.  Note that we will follow the bus schedule handed out at Back to School night for the AM, 3:00, 3:52, and 4:30 buses.  If you encounter problems with the bus or routes, please contact us so we can rectify the issue with the transporation department immediately.

Drivers picking up students after school should get in line to enter campus from Church Ave, heading north towards Computech.  When leaving the pickup area, cars must turn right down Belgravia in order to keep the path clear for our 19 buses.  Cars may not be parked on the red curb on Belgravia.  Students will not be allowed to cross Belgravia or Fairview streets in order to keep everyone safe during a hectic traffic time.

As a reminder, of all phone messages are located on our school website for parents and students to review each week at their leisure. Our master calendar is also accessible on our school website. Parents can also find regular updates about our school on our school Facebook page- we encourage you to subscribe if you have not already done so. Please do not hesitate to contact our school office if you have any questions. The phone number for our school office is 457-2640.

Thank you and have a great night.

Good afternoon Computech community this is Dr. Scherrer calling with a weekly update about some of the important events and happenings going on around campus.

Parents, I want to let you know that our first school dance and non-standard dress day are scheduled for this coming Thursday, August 27th, from 3:00-4:20. Dance tickets can be purchased for $2.00 beginning Monday, August 24th during lunch and break. As our 8th grade students are aware, dance days at Computech are also non-standard dress days where students do not have to follow the Computech Standard of Dress. Information regarding acceptable dress on non-standard dress days can be found inside our student agendas.  I encourage you to review non-standard dress rules found inside our student’s agendas to learn what is considered acceptable to wear on non-standard dress days.  7th grade students are expected to enter the dance with their WEB leaders whom they met and worked with on the Friday 7th graders began their Computech journey.  If not, an additional $2 will be charged to both the 7th grader and WEB leader who are not accompanied by one another.

And speaking of non-standard dress, I want to let our parents know that our first Computech Jeanius day of the year is coming up this Friday, August 28th. During Jeanius days, Computech students are allowed to wear their favorite pair of jeans or pants to school, so long as they have a “C” or better in each of their classes. As we still are in the first two weeks of the school year, ALL students will be eligible to participate in this first Jeanius day of the school year. Jeanius days are held the last Friday of every month.

Also, I am happy to announce that Computech offers tutorial services for all of our students after school, specifically in the areas of mathematics, language arts, history, science and computers afterschool in the cafeteria. We encourage the use of afterschool tutorial for all students that are in need of some extra time or support or students can drop into the cafeteria afterschool if they are just looking for a quiet place to study. Afterschool tutorial will be held from 2:55-4:30 each day.

All right Computech community, that is all for this week. Thank you for tuning in every week for updates about our school and thank you for being part of our school where, along with you, we strive for the success of every student, every day.
